WELCOME TO SUNDAY SCHOOL!


With the exception of the first Sunday in each month (when we have our Family Service), St. Matthew’s runs each week a Sunday School for four age groups as follows:

  • Under 5s
  • 5-8s
  • 8-11
  • 12-14+


    • We are flexible about age – we want it to be the best for each child and for the group as a whole. Please encourage your children to join one of these groups – even if you aren’t able to be with us on a regular basis.

    For the first 15 minutes of Sunday School, all the children and teachers meet together for a short time of corporate worship & prayer before we split into our groups.

    After each group has finished their lesson, all children return to the main church in time to participate in the communion service alongside their parents.

    Please also note the following:

    1. Parents of children under 5 should ensure that a parent stays with the child if the child cannot settle in the class on his/her own.

    2. Parents should ensure that their children either attend Sunday School or stay in church. Children who come to church and stay outside on the grass – either during or after Sunday School – are an easy distraction for other children! They could also be at risk of an accident, as they would be unsupervised.

    3. If your child cannot speak English, a parent must stay with the child to translate.


    If you are able to help as a leader or helper at any of the above groups, please speak to one of the Sunday School teachers or to the Chaplain.
